sous les plage, pave

this is a not-very-good picture of a very good piece that was made by an old friend of mine, and which i stumbled across while walking around in a not-marriott part of town in-between conference things today. sorry: not expecting to see anything of particular interest on my walk, i didn't have a proper camera on me.
the gallery, lamontagne, looked closed, but wasn't, and i remembered the name from... oh, somewhere-- so i tried the door and it opened. i'm glad i found it, because later on i looked up the space and the show and saw that these pieces get packed up and put away after this weekend (and by the boxes on the floor and the paintings propped up against the walls and the absolute absence of a gallerist in the main space, it looked as though they were calling it over already). and you know, though we be neighbors, who knows the next time i would see some of chris' product (though, i suppose, i do run into his [adorable] kid from time to time, and maybe she counts).
the official photograph that is available for viewing in proper parts of the internet makes the piece look a lot nicer, but i like that in real life, you can see that it's much harder to see everything at once-- the angles of things don't always work together, and not everything is visible or plain at the same time.
sous les paves, la plage.
____
also it works with the general sentiments and rushes and pushes of my body, lately.
especially paired with the certain RRRAAAARRRRRRiness of the ONE BILLION TIGERS (apparently: "it takes a nation of tigers to hold us back") piece on the other wall.
____
in other news, i still do want to return to a conversation with myself about CTY.
i'm at the AMS conference and am eating and breathing everything to do with the cultivation of brilliance and lifelong loves of learning
so of course i am drowning in ideas. too much to sort through. must digest.
_____
speaking of which, dinner with old CTY friend, e.k., with truffle fries & side cars = delicious, and also in need of digestion.
Zzzzzzz....
